Enter a duration and average total bitrate. The result is an estimate for the media data, not the measured size of a particular movie offer.
What the estimate includes
The calculation uses duration × 60 × bitrate ÷ 8 ÷ 1,000 to estimate decimal gigabytes. Enter total bitrate to include audio with video. If you know only the video bitrate, allow additional data for audio and other transfer overhead.
Why actual use can differ
Adaptive bitrate, adverts, retries and seeking can change the amount transferred. Downloaded editions may use different encoding settings from streamed editions. A resolution such as 1080p is not enough to determine one fixed data size.
Plan with some spare room
Use this to compare durations and bitrates. Check the viewing app's actual download size when available, leave storage free for normal device use and confirm offline playback before travelling.
